  • Jain Community
    • Mysore city has a considerable number of people who follow the Jain religion.  They include the Kannada speaking, belonging to Digambar section and the Marwari community from Rajasthan who belong to the Shwetambar section of Jainism.  Most of the Jains in Mysore city are in business field.  The Jain community has built a temple completely with marble in Mahveernagar.  It is said to have cost a billion rupees.  There is a Digambar Jain monastery at Aghalaya near Krishna Raja Pet (which is in hour's drive from Mysore).  A Pinjrapole which houses nearly 2000 heads of cattle mainly rescued from being killed for meat are housed here which is a charitable work from the Marwari community.  Built on the area of 61 acres of land donated by the King of Mysore, near Chamundi Foot hills it is a humanitarian initiative to help animals.
